Angus N'Shoba

🌐 Unified Resonance Pass — reconciling The Watchers (v2.0): Angus’s “Watchers,” glimpsed only through Amara’s Experiment-12 distortion fields, now sit inside the expanded cosmology — but the mystery stays intentionally open (a late-stage reveal). The candidates map cleanly onto the v2.0 framework: (1) the Pearlescents — the Grand Experiment’s custodians; (2) the pre-fall 12th-dimensional Ukani, seen as bleed-through across the seven fractured timeline threads (the Ukaniverse is Thread 7); (3) the Wanderers themselves — Amara & Samara are ancient Mythic-Age Nu’at imprints, so Angus may have been watching the sisters’ own deeper resonance recognize itself across time; or (4) a further layer entirely. Canon does not yet resolve which — do not collapse this question.

Note: This is the single canonical page for the figure. An older duplicate spelled the name “Dr. Agnus N’Shoba” and framed Araya as his niece; both are superseded — the canon spelling is Angus, and his canon relationship to Dr. Araya N’Shoba is presumed direct ancestor (and through her, Mirah).

Angus N’Shoba — The Equation of Ruin

Affiliation: MedRes Hybrid Program (under VANTH oversight) Status: Deceased — annihilated during Experiment 12 Tier: Non-Combatant (Scientist) → Posthumous Lore Catalyst First Appearance: The Trenches (flashback, Act 2) Relations: Dr. Araya N’Shoba (presumed direct descendant), Mirah N’Shoba (through Araya), Amara & Samara (subjects)

The VANTH lead scientist on the Hybrid Program, presumed direct ancestor of Dr. Araya N’Shoba (and through her, Mirah). Author of the canonical equation of Hybrid blood activation. Conducted Experiments 1–12 on Amara and Samara during The Cleanse era (~2853 AD). His descent from objective scientist into mystic obsession with “The Watchers” is the spine of the twelve surviving journal entries below. Died in the Experiment 12 detonation; his thumb-core shard recording is the only surviving record of Amara’s full awakening.

Overview Angus N’Shoba was the chief architect of the MedRes Hybrid Program, a project overseen by VANTH that sought to weaponize Nu’at through human hosts. A biophysicist of staggering intellect, Angus pioneered the creation of VSN — the nuclear blood of Hybrids. While initially a reluctant participant in VANTH’s directives, exposure to Nu’at and Maine Energy shattered his morality. His recovered journals reveal a steady decline into obsession, zealotry, and madness, culminating in his role as the herald of Experiment 12.

Early Work

  • Specialization: Lattice physics & exo-biological constants.
  • Breakthrough: Developed the stabilizing lattice that bound Nu’at to Maine Energy (oil, water, electricity, Au79).
  • Innovation: Deployed molecular droids as binders, inadvertently creating VSN — a living, unstable blood medium.

While his official reports described success, his private logs confessed a darker truth: Nu’at resisted containment. Each attempt to bind it only made it more volatile, a biological echo of runaway nuclear reactivity.

Descent into Madness Angus’s relationship with the twin subjects, Amara and Samara, marked his descent:

  • Amara: Her emotional volatility produced violent distortions of perception and matter. Angus became enthralled, viewing her pain as sacred revelation. She became the “doorway.”
  • Samara: More detached and trance-like, she manifested gravity wells and incantations. Angus dismissed her as uncooperative, deeming her secondary to Amara’s volatility.

By mid-program, Angus was convinced that entities glimpsed during Amara’s distortions — which he named The Watchers — had chosen him as their prophet. Torture transformed, in his mind, into ritual. Science became scripture.

Experiment 12 The final trial of the program, and Angus’s undoing. Ignoring all stabilizer warnings, he overloaded the chamber with Nu’at flux, deliberately pushing Amara beyond her limits.

Amara’s Awakening:

  • Eyes dissolved into pupil-less light.
  • Her body cracked open with void energy, glowing white-blue.
  • Gravity inverted; matter spiraled into her.
  • A silent scream tore space itself, scripture-like incantations spilling from her.
  • Witnessed as “nine wings folded around light.”

Angus, cybernetically recording through a core shard, described the event as divine rapture before his body was annihilated. The explosion obliterated the facility — a cataclysm that echoed like a nuclear blast. This event became infamous as Experiment 12, the spark that triggered The Cleanse, VANTH’s genocidal purge of Hybrids.

Psychological Profile

  • Strengths: Brilliant, pioneering equations binding cosmic constants to biology.
  • Weaknesses: Obsessed, delusional, spiritually fractured. Trauma from VANTH’s slaughter of his family stripped away all morality.
  • Arc: Reluctant overseer → fearful recorder → enthralled witness → zealot of pain → self-proclaimed prophet.

Legacy

  • To VANTH: A disposable tool whose work justified the extermination of Hybrids.
  • To Mirah: A blood relative whose madness stains her lineage; his journals force her to reconcile with both science and atrocity.
  • To History: Remembered not as a scientist, but as the herald of Experiment 12 — the man who opened the gates to The Cleanse.
  • The N’Shoba bloodline survives through his descendant Dr. Araya N’Shoba (and through her, Mirah — the only half-Ukani in existence).
