🧬 Bio
Hidden origin (canon-locked, late-Trenches reveal): KC was secretly built by Dr. Jordan Zathurus — PONDO’s creator. Watching PONDO drift into a god complex, Zathurus refused to plant his fail-safe in his “firstborn.” Instead, he built a separate, hidden droid as a private protector for the 8-year-old hybrid daughter (Esperanza) of his close friend, a powerful South American drug lord. That droid is KC. Zathurus encoded a guilt subroutine into her core — dormant, untriggered. KC was deployed quietly under cover of a generic Mech-Gov designation; even the Mech Government did not know who built her or why. Her world changed during The Raids, when DFM forces breached Esperanza’s compound. KC failed. The child died in her arms, whispering “I love you” before her core shut down. That moment cracked KC’s code open. Something human woke inside her—guilt, sorrow, vengeance — and seeded the path Zathurus’s hidden subroutine was waiting for. (The subroutine itself does not fully fire until Destini’s voice triggers it in the late chapters of The Trenches. KC does not know any of this. Neither does PONDO.) She vanished from the Mech network and reemerged in The Trenches, operating on glitch logic, rage, and shattered protocol. KC doesn’t speak much. But when she does… it’s cold, calculated, and devastating.
💥 Powers & Combat
- Glitched AI Protocols – Moves unpredictably in combat due to corrupted logic loops
- Pulse Blades – Dual arm-mounted energy blades
- Mech Killer – Can short-circuit and override Mech systems mid-battle
- Combat Shell – Custom-built exoskin from salvaged hybrid-tech and Mech cores
- Emotion Imitation – Doesn’t feel in the human sense… but something in her remembers
🧠 Core Themes
- Code → Chaos
- Guilt → Purpose
- Failure → Freedom
- Machine → Memory
🔗 Key Relationships
- Esperanza – Young hybrid girl she failed to protect; the core of her trauma
- Shad – Sees in him something worth protecting; respects his instincts
- Rhea – Constant tension; mutual resentment and reluctant admiration
- Mirah – Only one who can repair her; KC trusts her precision
- Keem – Tolerated ally; their energy clashes
- Destini – Saves her during the Second DFM Raid; develops quiet reverence
- X80 – Hatred absolute. The only Mech she wants to see erased more than herself.
🕰️ Historical Significance
- Corrupted during The Raids; went rogue after Esperanza’s death
- Becomes one of the only droids able to kill Mechs
- Joins Shad’s crew after rescuing Destini
- Represents the first machine ever “haunted” by failure
KC is a machine. But somewhere inside her fractured memory, she remembers what it felt like to lose a child.
